Here is a small sample of some of the work we have done.
Mahogany Pedestal Desk, 19th century

Sections of veneer were fitted and moulding made to replace damaged and missing areas. A replacement leather was fitted (Hide not Skiver), the previous leather being beyond repair. The original surface patination was kept intact.
Victorian Library Chair

Bookrest holder fittings were missing on both arms. The original fittings had previously caused damage to the arms. Replacement bookrest holders designed and made at the Traditional Restoration Co. Ltd. were fitted.
Mid Victorian Burr Walnut Round Table

Veneer damage was repaired by inserting old veneer from the Traditional Restoration Co Ltd stock of veneers, into the damaged areas. The existing patination was matched and the finish revived.
Mahogany Victorian Tip-up Table

The table column base is a typical 'brick' construction which has benefits and draw backs. As with many of these columns the leg had broken through the 'brick' construction and had damaged the veneer. The 'brick' construction was rebuilt, the dovetail re-cut and the veneer replaced.
Walnut Writing Box, 19th Century

The lock of this box had been forced, damaging the substrate, with various veneers and the brass escutcheon missing. Care was taken to select matching stringing and a replacement brass escutcheon was made. The brass was aged to match the existing patinated surface of the original brass.
Regency Mahogany Sabre Leg Dining Chair

This type of chair design has inherent flaws, one of which is the short grain of the rear upright where it meets the side rail. The original rear upright had been repaired many times and was sufficiently damaged to necessitate a complete replacement being made. The chair was carefully taken apart and a replacement leg made. Our polisher at the Traditional Restoration Co. Ltd. meticulously aged and matched the surface imperfections and finally matched the tones of the existing colours to blend in the replacement leg.
George III Mahogany Pembroke Table

The table had a full compliment of problems, sun faded centre section, water damage and cigarette burn marks. Extensive work was carried out to rectify the problems. Initially the surfaces were cleaned down, lightly bleaching areas to balance the surfaces. Finally our polisher at the Traditional Restoration Co. Ltd. matched the patination and colour of the original surface to reveal the beautiful quality of the timber used to make this table.
Boule Table, 19th Century

As with most Boule work, movement inevitably causes the brass and tortoiseshell to lift. Our table had suffered typical damage and required all the loose or lifting brass and tortoiseshell to be laid down once again. Our Cabinet Maker made the missing brass foliage.
Regency Tea Caddy with Boxwood Stringing

Natural movement of the substrate timber has caused the boxwood stringing to work loose and over time some sections were lost including the handles. The surfaces were cleaned down, all cabinetwork completed and finally our french polisher at the Traditional Restoration Co. Ltd. gave the Caddy its final finish. Replacement handles were sourced to match, having witness marks to guide us in choosing the size.
Regency Drum Table

The table had many previous repairs to the leg and it was important to retain all the leg parts. With this in mind our Cabinet Maker cut in a new section of mahogany over previous repairs to conserve as much of the original leg as possible. Our polisher at the Traditional Restoration Co. Ltd. colour matched the surfaces and patination of the table base and finished off by hand waxing.
Regency Sarcophagus Tea Caddy

Using Cuban Mahogany from our extensive stock at the Traditional Restoration Co. Ltd. we turned a new handle, matching the style and patination of the remaining original.
1950's 'Jason' Chair by Carl Jacobs

At the Traditional Restoration Co. Ltd. we restore furniture modern, contemporary and antique. The 'Jason' chair integral seat and back required lightly bleaching and repolishing. The 'Jason' chair base had the ebonised surfaces revived.
Dorney Court Regency Rosewood Chair

This piece is constructed using unusual joints similar to joints used when making Chinese furniture. The section of side rail was damaged and required us to remake one end of the decorative rail. The new section was carved to match the original, fitted to the chair and finally colour matched and blended to the original surfaces.
Victorian Chest of Drawers

The front of one drawer was missing. We used old timber from our extensive stock to match the front panel. Our Cabinet Maker made dovetails in the same way the original dovetails were made. Colour-matching and patination completed the brief.
Regency Mahogany Chest of Drawers

We undertook a full restoration of this chest of drawers. From drawer runners and guides, remaking the splay feet, inserting matching veneers to the final revival of the surfaces
Regency Mahogany Pedestal Table

This type of repair is common on tables of this design. When the substrate shrinks or expands, the covering veneer breaks away. Selection of veneers is critical here as we steam bend the veneer to follow the contour of the foot. After allowing the animal glue to dry thoroughly we then aged the surface and colour matched the replacement veneer.
Georgian Parquetry and Penwork Sewing Table

The table was in good condition apart from two tenons of the lower stretcher which were broken. We successfully made two false tenons and inserted matching veneer. All polished surfaces were revived and waxed.
Oak Carved Grotesque

This Grotesque was carefully cleaned, making sure that it kept its patination. The surface was oiled with a final wax finish.
