Veneering and Veneer Repairs

The Traditional Restoration Company Ltd. undertakes all kinds of hand veneering work from small veneer repairs to re-veneering whole items.

Modern knife-cut veneer is usually 0.6mm thick, prior to the introduction of this technique in the 1840’s, veneer was previously ‘saw-cut’ in a pit and therefore could be an 1/8″ thick or more.

To get the right veneer match for each piece we either cut it from the solid, match the veneer from our veneer stock or in most cases, when matching antique veneer, we steam off veneer from old furniture breakers we also have in stock.

As with all services, our veneering and veneer repair service covers areas in Berkshire & Buckinghamshire including Windsor, Eton, Maidenhead, Ascot, Burnham, Beaconsfield, Gerrards Cross and West London.
